GoodReads Summary:
The Renegades are a syndicate of prodigies — humans with extraordinary abilities — who emerged from the ruins of a crumbled society and established peace and order where chaos reigned. As champions of justice, they remain a symbol of hope and courage to everyone… except the villains they once overthrew.
Nova has a reason to hate the Renegades, and she is on a mission for vengeance. As she gets closer to her target, she meets Adrian, a Renegade boy who believes in justice — and in Nova. But Nova’s allegiance is to a villain who has the power to end them both.
Review:
I just love Marissa Meyer. She is so talented. The world she has created in Renegades is full of conflict and drama and I loved it all.
Nova was beyond compelling. With no faith in the Renegades after they let her down as a child, she joins the Anarchists. She’s determined to bring down the Renegades from the inside. I think her story was so interesting because she’s seeing things from a different perspective and thinking that maybe the Renegades aren’t as bad as she always thought they were. It was really interesting to see her conflicted between her loyalties to the Anarchists and her changing views of the Renegades.
Adrian was also an interesting character. He just wants to be the type of hero that his parents are. He was adopted after his mother was killed. He had two dads which I loved.
I loved the diversity and inclusion that Meyer had in this story. Some of the most famous superheroes were gay. There was another supporting character that struggled with a chronic illness and was required to walk with a cane. But none of it was flaunted. It was all made to be casual and normal, which it very well should be.
thought all the abilities that Meyer came up with were interesting and unique. And after the ending, I’m dying to see what will be happening in the second book.
Overall, this was full of action and lovable characters. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to continuing the series.
Keep on reading lovelies, Amanda.
